Paralegal, Labor & Employment at a glance...
The L&E Paralegal role is an integral part of the North America and WHQ Labor, Employment & Benefits ("LE&B") Team, which supports the corporate, commercial and manufacturing businesses in employment litigation defense, union and employee relations, wage & hour practices, EEO/OFCCP compliance, workforce planning, employee benefits and executive compensation, and other workforce matters. This role provides a broad range of paraprofessional support, including litigation support, matter management, budget and invoice administration, and case tracking and reporting. These areas of responsibility require regular interaction with human resources personnel and outside counsel, and familiarity with labor and employment laws, practices, policies and procedures. This position reports to the Lead Senior Counsel, Labor & Employment.
What's on the menu?

  • LE&B Team Reporting (significant litigation reporting, settlement reporting, employment practices insurance reporting, KPI tracking).
  • Matter/Case Management (open & close matters in SimpleLegal, provide regular case updates, maintain internal case files in iManage).
  • Litigation Management ( manage legal holds coordinate internal e-Discovery process, run document production, facilitate deposition scheduling, process case settlements).
  • Budget/Invoice Management (regular tracking and reporting of legal spend against budget, timely and accurate invoice review in accordance with Outside Counsel Guidelines).
  • Coordinate the Project NDA process, conduct statistical analyses for workforce restructurings, review and respond to employment records requests, provide rehire guidance.
  • Provide Benefits and HR Compliance support as needed.

  • I have outstanding written and oral communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and able to navigate various databases, programs and systems
  • I possess sound judgment and the ability to discern when to escalate matters to team members and handle confidential information while developing relationships
  • I have a positive demeanor and able to work both independently and collaboratively with team members, cross-functional colleagues and external partners
  • I am task-oriented with an excellent sense of prioritization, highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks and to work under pressure
  • I have the ability to work Hybrid (Tuesday-Thursday in office) located in Downtown Chicago

Office Collaboration & Hybrid Work Environment
We believe our office environment fuels our collaboration, connection & community as an organization and allows our employees to grow toward greatness. We also believe providing a more flexible and agile model is essential in today's workplace. A majority of our office-based employees will be able to work remotely for up to two days each week. Additionally, employees who are subject to this hybrid model will be eligible to work from anywhere for up to six weeks in a rolling 12-month period (in maximum two-week increments and according to benefits and tax guidelines). Some jobs may be required to be performed fully in office depending on the role's responsibilities and requirements.
