Who You Are 

Versay Solutions is seeking a Conversational AI Specialist (NLU) to join our Conversational Design and Applied Linguistics Team to help deliver customer-facing voice and chat experiences. Your primary responsibility will be to build custom NLU models for our RASA platform to support customers. This role is team-oriented and customer-facing, as you will collaborate with the client and other technical staff to accomplish project deliverables. In addition, as we move forward to adapt our platforms and products to include generative AI, we will be looking for someone who is interested in technologies and techniques around designing and building chat and voice bots using RAG and other AI tools. 


The ideal candidate will have a strong linguistics and machine learning background. They will have knowledge of natural language processing and generation (NLP/NLG), script design processes, and research best practices. Additionally, they will be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and adaptable.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with designers, developers, testing and deployment teams, and other analysts to implement new features into user-facing applications and chatbots 
  • Collect and analyze user conversation data to determine the best solution for an NLU language model (intents and entities) 
  • Apply machine learning or statistical modeling techniques to applications/data that use natural language processing (NLP); manipulate data with Python or other batch tools to prepare NLU models, i.e. tagging intents and entities, etc.
  • Advise in the process of developing, deploying, and updating the NLP designs and applications 
  • Analyze user stories for NLU systems 
  • Evaluate NLU system performance and make recommendations for improvements, including modifications to the pipeline 
  • Research complex problems to find custom solutions for customer-specific needs
  • Maintain documentation for the consumption of business, developer, and tester audiences 
  • Developing and validating the performance of the overall design 
  • Supporting the developer of user acceptance testing by writing test plans with QA 
  • Identify edge cases
  • Attend and present status updates at weekly team meetings on project deliverables to team members and upper management; attend project-related meetings and customer-facing meetings 
  • Research complex problems to find custom solutions for customer-specific needs
  • Analyze data to make improvements and updates to current scripts

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Linguistics, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience with chatbots and AI/ML systems 
  • 1-2+ years of experience working with HumanFirst.AI, Dialogflow, Lex, Watson, Rasa, LUIS, Chatfuel, or similar open source or commercial conversational AI/ML platform 
  • Experience working with software engineers, developers, and/or UX designers in a highly technical environment 
  • Knowledge of data science and machine learning 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Experience working with large data sets, including using Python and other scripting tools to wrangle data 
  • Proficiency in analyzing and presenting observed insights and improvement plans 
  • Experience with voice and chat script development and design
  • Proficiency with chatbot builders
  • Proficiency with speech and language technologies, preferred. 
  • Knowledge of Git, preferred. 
  • Experience managing data science and/or machine learning projects, preferred. 
  • Strong research skills, preferred. 
  • Experience with end-to-end project development, preferred.
